What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at Dunbarton Corporation?
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for ensuring positive employee relations, training, HRIS, new hire orientation and other Human Resources related duties on a professional level reporting to the Human Resources Director and working closely with the plant supervisors and managers. The right person for this job has a reputation for being well-spoken, empathetic, knowledgeable in HR practices and principles, as well as being well-versed in employment law.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks:
- Maintain the confidentiality of personal employee information, company information, records, and related issues in accordance with all the applicable laws.
- Provide technical expertise and communicate HR policies and procedures, laws, standards and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain employment records related to events, such as recruiting, onboarding, hiring, new hire orientation, termination, leaves, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, restructures and reductions-in-workforce.
- Prepare, implement and administer employee benefit plans, including health/vision/dental insurance, short and long-term disability, time off, leaves, FMLA, supplemental insurance offerings, and extra-duty differentials. Provide technical expertise and manage the open enrollment process for key benefits. Answer employee questions and communicate benefit changes.
- Process, verify, correct and manage invoices from benefit providers and other Human Resource vendors.
- Address employee relations issues such as, complaints, suggestions, conflicts, harassment, discrimination, work complaints and other employee issues. Remain up-to-date with changes in rules and regulations.
- Manage the employee assistance program, conduct employee training, recommend use, and make mandatory referrals in appropriate cases.
- Maintain and update human resource documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks, employee directories, performance evaluation forms, and corrective action forms.
- Train all employees on key human resource topics.
- Enter data into the HRIS system, manage the collection and input, develop key dashboards of the information, creates reports and manages the system for up-to-date, correct, and retrievable data. Determine retention plan for documents and data and purges data when possible.
- Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies and procedures.
- Evaluate job positions, determining classification, exempt or non-exempt status and compensation, including bonuses.
- Manage Dunbarton’s 401k plan, and other plans, inform and communicate details with employees, and reports potential problems or issues with management.
Education and Experience:
- BS degree in Human Resources, Psychology or equivalent major.
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in a human resources function in a manufacturing environment.
