Description
Assist physician and advanced practice providers with all aspects of patient visits. Perform a variety of routine clinical tasks including but not limited to quality assurance, preparing patients, assisting with examinations, and any special procedures as requested. Facilitate patient and physician/provider communication via patient portal, phone, or other communication method.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Room patients to obtain vitals, history of present illness (HPI), review patient history, and reconcile medication. Prepare charts for physician or provider.
- Document information accurately and efficiently in electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure results are available from any testing performed since last office visit.
- Keep exam rooms, lab, procedure rooms, and medical equipment are sterilized and stocked. Log and perform daily quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure medical equipment is in good, working order and report any malfunctions to Clinic Practice Manager.
- At physician or provider direction, order testing, laboratory procedures, process referrals to specialists, communicate results to patients, and answer messages.
- Order and document prescriptions (new and refills) according to physician or provider specifications.
- Provide phlebotomy services. Collect specimens, label, and complete lab forms. Perform basic tests.
- Assist physician or provider with examinations, minor surgical and special procedures.
- Perform patient education.
- Order medical supplies to maintain required levels and keep accurate, documented inventory.
- Occasional travel to other offices as needed for sufficient coverage.
- Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
- Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
- This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Accuracy is critical when executing physician or provider orders. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED. Completion of a licensed practical nursing program. One year of nursing experience in a healthcare clinic setting preferred. Previous EMR experience preferred. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Ability to travel to various clinics around the facility.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current unencumbered LPN license in the State of Oklahoma or Multistate Licensure in a Party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license in good standing and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
