What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Equipment Technician, Advanced Medical Supply position at Duncan Regional Hospital?
Under the direct supervision of the AMS Supervisor, the Medical Equipment Technician is responsible for medical equipment delivery and set-up in patient homes, pick-up from patient homes, cleaning equipment, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Responsible for inventory management, lot number tracking, and product recalls. Responsible for scheduling deliveries with the clients and maintaining delivery records.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Delivers medical equipment to patient homes.
- Demonstrates and explains use of equipment to patients and documents appropriately.
- Maintains positive relations with patients.
- Picks up and cleans equipment as required.
- Performs light maintenance on van.
- Maintains mileage/vehicle log.
- Maintains equipment tracking and lot number tracking for oxygen and solutions.
- Maintains equipment maintenance per manufacture guidelines.
- Maintains delivery records.
- Assists in resolving client equipment problems when appropriate.
- Assumes on-call responsibilities when needed.
- Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required.
- Attend and participate in meetings as needed.
- Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
- Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
- Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email and navigate information technology associated with the position. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Advanced, fingerprint background checks are required for this position.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year home medical equipment experience preferred. Ability to read, follow directions, interpret and apply policies, procedures and legal requirements. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making consistent with organizational objectives. Proven ability to analyze and solve problems to deliver results. Must have strong interpersonal skills to successfully represent the department and organization at all levels. Familiarity with standard office equipment. Ability to handle multiple tasks in timely manner.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: A current, valid drivers license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
