In addition to performing Clinic LPN duties and responsibilities, the Nurse Supervisor will, under the direction of the Clinic Practice Manager, provide mentorship and guidance to clinic team members and oversee the daily performance of LPNs and MAs to ensure best practices are observed. The Supervisor will refocus team members as necessary to ensure rural health clinic (RHC) guidelines are consistently observed by developing and following standardized processes for all rural health clinics.

RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Responsible for maintaining RHC regulations in all clinics and regularly educating staff on these policies.
  • Upholds all Vaccines for Children (VFC) standards and trains LPN and MA staff on all VFC protocols.
  • Stays up to date on Oklahoma State Immunization Information System (OSIIS) policies and regularly educates staff to maintain these policies at all times.
  • Monitors TempTrak 24/7 and responds to all temp excursions with vaccine transports and VFC paperwork.
  • Develops and implements standardized orientation program for rural LPNs and MAs.
  • Responsible for new team member training (Clinic LPNs and MAs only) including necessary logins, access requests, and hardware needs before clinical team members begin employment.
  • Responsible for maintaining annual lab competencies for clinical staff.
  • Frequently travel to other clinics to serve as float personnel when no other alternative is available (Clinic LPNs and MAs only).
  • Conducts regular RHC mock inspections at clinics (shared responsibility with Clinic Practice Manager).
  • Serves as coordinator for educating and disseminating quality measures to clinical staff and responsible for developing plans to improve scores to meet clinical goals.
  • Serves as a liaison between Solutions Lab Lead and rural clinical staff for system-wide lab updates.
  • Coordinates completion of RHC checklists, Incomplete Order reports, Monthly Vaccine Reports, HealthStream assignments, and daily triage Access Nurse Reports.
  • Works closely with Clinic Practice Manager to improve patient satisfaction scores and team member scores by reviewing NRC data and feedback from performance evaluations.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
  • Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
  • Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
  • Must adhere to, and promote, safety protocols at all times.
  • Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
  • This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Accuracy is critical when executing physician or provider orders. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED. Completion of a licensed practical nursing program. Two years of nursing experience in a healthcare clinic setting preferred. Previous EMR experience preferred. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Ability to travel to various clinics around the facility.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current unencumbered LPN license in the State of Oklahoma or Multistate Licensure in a Party state in compliance with primary residency rules and requirements. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; May have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain. A current valid drivers license in good standing and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
