The Rehabilitation Services Technician assists members of the rehabilitation team with therapeutic treatments for physical, mental, and occupational disabilities, injuries, and illnesses in a variety of age groups to include: Infant (birth to 1 year), Pediatric (1 year to 12 years), Adolescence (13 to 17 years), Adult (18 to 64 years), and Geriatric (65 and above). The Tech is responsible for patient transport, assisting therapists and therapy assistants in performance of patient related activities, department cleanliness, inventory of all equipment and supplies, and some clerical tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Consistently receives patients/clients in-person and on the phone by using prompt and courteous responses and notifies Therapists of patient arrivals or schedule changes.
- Working knowledge of department equipment, devices, and processes.
- Performs clerical duties, such as maintaining up-to-date patient records, filing, faxing, scanning, answering phone calls, and responding to emails.
- Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JACHO) standards.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Effectively cleans equipment and treatment rooms before and after sessions.
- Demonstrates understanding of the obligation to preserve the confidentiality of customer and staff health and financial information and circumstances.
- Maintains effective cleaning schedule of aquatics pool and its maintenance.
- Maintains inventory supplies. This includes keeping stock areas clean and organized, and ordering new supplies as needed.
- Places and tracks work orders and other e-mail communications.
- Applies therapeutic treatments under the supervision of licensed therapists and assist with therapeutic treatments as directed. They also monitor patients during treatment.
- Assists in opening and closing the department.
- Handles multiple tasks and maintains quality while completing work within appropriate time frames.
- Transports and prepares patients for therapeutic treatment sessions. They also prepare supplies and equipment for treatment, which includes setting up treatment rooms.
- Uniforms must be worn in accordance with dress code requirements.
- Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings.
- Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
- Must adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
- This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 3 months of related experience and/or training in a healthcare setting preferred. Proficiency with typing, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel preferred. Rehabilitation services knowledge and/or industry experience, familiarity with office procedures and basic accounting principles, mathematical skills, strong oral and written communication skills, results-oriented, employee training experience, self-motivation, organizational and time management skills, and customer service skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: American Heart Association BLS; May have up to 30 days from date of hire or transfer to obtain. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
