Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant at our clinic plays a key role in managing patient flow and providing support to healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care. The patients we serve come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform collaborative and supportive tasks outlined in the scope of practice. You will receive direction from the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to ensure the goals of the clinic, team, and organization are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with patient flow, including rooming patients, administering immunizations, injections, and other medications as prescribed, and collecting laboratory specimens.
- Depending on the specialty and clinic location, duties may include:
- Providing phone support.
- Facilitating communication between patients and providers.
- Assisting with prescription refills.
- Performing x-ray duties (if the x-ray operator exam is passed).
- Performing phlebotomy and clinic laboratory tests as needed.
Clinic Support:
- Assist with front desk or check-in tasks.
- Order and stock supplies.
- Help with prior authorization requests.
- Other tasks as assigned by the team.
Accountability:
- Demonstrate proficiency in skills outlined in the NMH Medical Assistant Scope of Practice.
- Maintain and upgrade skills in line with Blaze Health's competency requirements.
- Accept additional duties to support organizational goals.
- Take direction from the Physician, Provider, Registered Nurse, Clinic Supervisor, and Clinic Manager.
Compliance:
- Adhere to the principles and standards outlined in North Memorial's Corporate Code of Conduct.
- Protect patient and team member privacy by only accessing necessary information.
- Report any violations or concerns to your supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Participation in a national health services registration program (e.g., American Medical Technologists) and successful completion of the credentialing exam required.
- Current Medical Assistant certification required.
- Previous clinical experience required.
- Passed x-ray operator exam (or willingness to take the exam depending on clinic needs).
Additional Information:
- Now accepting LPNs for this position – Salary Range: $23.75/hour - $33/hour.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency with computer software applications is required.
- For Occupational Medicine roles, travel to various local worksites using a personal vehicle is required.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
