What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Pastor position at Duncannon Church of God?
Position Summary:
The DCOG Youth Pastor will be responsible for the entire youth ministry. The Youth Pastor will teach our teens about faith from God’s word preparing our teens for life and caring for them along the way. They will create a safe environment through identifying and developing volunteers. There are a couple teens in our congregation, but there is currently no existing youth program at DCOG, so this person will be tasked with meeting teens, and inviting them to be a part of DCOG Youth Ministry. This is a great opportunity for someone to learn about ministry in an established church. This is a part-time 5-8 hours a week position. Flexible time off as well as ministry reimbursement negotiable.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of the youth ministry including, but not limited to:
· Serve as the primary Bible and life teacher for the DCOG youth.
· Plan and lead fellowship and serve events.
· Identify and develop lay leaders to support the youth ministry
· Create and maintain a schedule for youth support volunteers
· Serve as part of the elder teaching team as time and gifting permit.
· Worship with DCOG on Sunday mornings (9.30 – 12.00) and participate in DCOG church life as time permits.
· Plan and lead one youth meeting per week (TBD), and one fellowship or serve opportunity per month.
· Will report to Lead Pastor and Church Council.
Requirements:
· Know Jesus Christ as personal Savior, live a life guided by faith, possess moral and spiritual values in line with the role of a Youth Pastor and theology of the Churches of God, and be willing to work within the theology of the Churches of God.
· High School Education or Equivalent. Pursuing further education for ministry.
· Able to pass a background check.
· Be dependable and have dependable transportation.
· Willingness and aptitude for working with youth (grades 6-12).
