General Summary:
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Product Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the application and selection of HVAC products. This role involves analyzing project requirements, assisting in product customization, and ensuring proper product integration into various applications. The position requires collaboration with internal teams, external clients, and distributors to deliver optimal solutions.
Principal Responsibilities:
Gain in-depth knowledge of the company's HVAC product offerings, including specifications, performance characteristics, and application constraints.
Use selection software to recommend suitable products based on project specifications, schedules, and customer requirements.
Review and interpret technical documents, such as blueprints, specifications, and schedules, to determine application feasibility.
Prepare and deliver detailed technical documentation, including submittals, drawings, and product specifications, for customer approval.
Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and distribution networks, addressing inquiries related to product application and performance.
Collaborate with the engineering team to develop solutions for custom applications or challenging projects.
Assist in troubleshooting issues related to product applications and provide resolution recommendations.
Maintain accurate records of application requests, solutions provided, and documentation generated.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and advancements in HVAC technology.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and applications.
Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles and practices.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate application challenges and propose solutions.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and concise technical documentation and customer interactions.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite and HVAC-specific selection or simulation software.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or a related field.
3–5 years of relevant experience in HVAC product application or a similar role.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, AHRI) is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in HVAC manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainable HVAC solutions.
- Certifications in HVAC-related disciplines are a plus.
