Job Description
Provides high-level database support by verifying databases associated with network tools and solutions function as required. Responsible for developing, evaluating, designing, and configuring relational database architectures and systems. Responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of databases and ensuring their reliable and efficient performance. Oversees establishing and maintaining the architecture, design, and security of various databases.
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (19c and later).
Perform regular database backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning.
Optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Manage and monitor database uptime to ensure high availability.
Administer and maintain Oracle Exadata clusters, including upgrading databases and Oracle Grid Infrastructure.
Perform patch management and storage configuration for Exadata environments.
Monitor Exadata performance and ensure system reliability and scalability.
Develop and implement monitoring tools to track database and Exadata uptime.
Create automated alerts for system availability, performance, and critical thresholds.
Monitor and analyze database logs to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
Implement database security policies, including data encryption and auditing.
Ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards.
Regularly apply security patches and updates to maintain a secure environment.
- Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study.
8-15 years of experience working with progressively more complex or large-scale databases to include: Proven experience as an Oracle DBA (5 years) and Expertise in Oracle Exadata administration (2 years)
Candidates MUST possess a current secret security clearance.
Other Job Specific Skills
Proficiency in creating and managing database monitoring solutions (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, Splunk, or custom tools).
Strong knowledge of database uptime monitoring and alerting strategies.
Experience with analyzing and troubleshooting database logs for issues and optimizations.
Familiarity with Oracle Grid Infrastructure and its lifecycle management (installation, upgrades, and maintenance).
Proficiency in database backup/recovery techniques, including RMAN.
Knowledge of database security best practices (e.g., encryption, auditing).
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate monitoring and maintenance tasks.
Strong Linux/Unix skills.
