Position Objective: Position is responsible for assisting with organizing the sports program at the assigned school. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

Essential Functions
- Instructs players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises
- Assesses players' skills, monitors players during competition and practice
- Determines game strategy
- Supervises athletes during practices and competition
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
- Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students
- Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and assemblies
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
- Is aware of and enforces school safety standards at all times
- Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policy and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, students, parents, and the general public
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
- Must possess some knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Understanding of school, district, and state rules and regulations regarding school operations
- Mental Demands: calculating, comparing, evaluation, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting
- Physical Demands: bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity
- Environmental Conditions: The works is performed primarily in a school environment and may be indoors or outdoors as regulated by the individual sport. Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
