Position Title:
CDL Class B Driver (Tack Truck Operator)
Position summary:
Must have CDL Class B. HAZMAT/Tanker Endorsements Preferred
The Asphalt Distributor Operator's primary duty is to operator the asphalt distributor/tack truck to spray tack, preparing the surface for paving. Assist on road crew when not distributing.
Tasks:
- Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
- Record operating data such as products and quantities, gauge readings, and operating times, manually or using computers.
- Maintain proper maintenance of truck and distribute including tire pressure, fluid levels, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Communicate using 2-way radios and verbal communication.
- May run roller, paver, or any other piece of equipment depending on needs of crew.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends
- Other duties as assigned
- Skills:
- Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Must be able to read maps and navigate around central Alabama
- Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
