Intern with the Dunn County Land and Water Division and work closely with state and federal conservation agencies and local nonprofit organizations! We are currently seeking a Natural Resources Intern that is looking to gain valuable real-world experience working and assisting with a wide range of natural resource related activities.Participating Agencies: Dunn County Land and Water Conservation Division, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Landmark Conservancy, Alliance of Dunn County Conservation and Sports Clubs.
Potential Start Date-End Date: May 5, 2025 – August 29, 2025 (Some flexibility in dates)
Compensation: The intern will receive up to an $8,320 scholarship (max 520 hours @ $16.00/hr, 40 hours/ week). The scholarship will be paid in three installments.

The activities the intern may be involved with include, but are not limited to: stream monitoring, groundwater monitoring, invasive species control, environmental education events, and various other activities with partner agencies and groups. There may be opportunities to shadow or assist Dunn County Land and Water Conservation Division Conservation Planners and Natural Resource Conservation Planners, on more complex projects including farm inspections or preparation and installation of engineered conservation practices. Other opportunities with Landmark Conservancy and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource staff are also likely. A time commitment to assisting partners will be developed upon hire. A final report summarizing major accomplishments will be required and presented to the Alliance of Dunn County Conservation and Sports Clubs along with Planning, Resources, and Development Committee of Dunn County.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have at least two years of post-secondary education and pursuing a degree in a field such as agricultural sciences, soil sciences, water resources, natural resource conservation, land use planning, biology or a related field and enrolled at a post secondary institution for the fall 2025 semester.
- Valid drivers license
- Proficient with typical office programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Physically able to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Ability to effectively communicate with people ranging from youth to adult age
- Ability to work some evening and weekend hours
- Comfortable outdoors alone, at times in remote locations and/or without cell phone service
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret and use aerial photos, plat books, soil maps and topographic maps
- Basic understanding of GIS and GPS
- Basic knowledge of soil and water conservation, wildlife ecology, agriculture
- Basic animal and plant identification
