What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Firefighter position at Dunnigan Fire Protection District?
Duties:
This is a non-paid, entry-level position. Under the supervision of Officers, Firefighters respond to fires, rescues, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other related emergencies and take appropriate action to mitigate threats to life and property. Firefighters also assist in public fire education and various community service projects. Firefighters are required to work a minimum of one 24 hour shift per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Current CPR card
Experience:
No experience is required. Volunteer firefighters are expected to complete a probational firefighter packet within one year of joining the department.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification of completion from a California State Fire Marshal accredited fire academy or California State Firefighter 1
- Current California EMT card
- FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800
- S-130 Wildland Firefighter Training
- S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
- Class A drivers license or Firefighter endorsement
