DESCRIPTION

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Director of Computer Technology will report to the Dean of Computers, Robotics, Engineering, Automotive & Manufacturing. Directors of Academic Programs provide administration to multiple programs with a total enrollment of less than 250 students. Directors ensure quality and integrity of the curriculum offered and provide strong leadership and direction to faculty and staff. Directors manage faculty and budgets for their departments. Directors, administer the budgets of all academic departments and facilities within their purview, manage the schedules, supervise, and evaluates faculty members in assigned programs in addition to providing support, coaching, and guidance to faculty members. The Director ensures the compliance of college academic policy and priorities within their departments, as well as the standards for the quality of the teaching and learning environment. The Director leads the hiring process within their departments for new faculty and executes enrollment and retention strategies. Direct reports to the Director could include faculty, coordinators, assistants, and other related staff. Directors initiate the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement. Directors create an environment in which students can accomplish the learning objectives of the course of instruction. Directors supervise the design and development of new curriculum.  Directors are required to teach between 1 and 3 courses per term at the Deans discretion. 

 

SPECIFIC POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervises and evaluates faculty members in assigned programs in addition to providing support, coaching, and guidance to faculty members. 
  • Lead regular department/program faculty and staff meetings.
  • Leads department recruiting efforts. This includes but is not limited to open houses, summer outreach events, high school visits and industry events.
  • Develop relationships with Employers and Program Advisory Committee to keep curriculum current and get students jobs.
  • Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions. 
  • Work with Student Affairs to execute SAP and SAW process, including timely student meetings and plan construction.
  • Execute retention plans that may include student meeting interventions.
  • Provide the first level of investigation and response for student complaints and academic issues beyond the faculty.
  • Monitors, assesses, and advises learners on technical and academic progress and performance. 
  • Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction. 
  • Develops and upgrades lesson material and training aids.  
  • Assists in the recruitment and placement of learners. 
  • Participates in industry and/or professional organizations to maintain and enhance program health and academic integrity. 
  • Directs scheduling, budgeting, and curriculum health improvements in the assigned programs. 
  • Develop calendars for faculty before the semester begins for planning purposes.
  • Plan and execute departmental events and student community engagement as needed.
  • Teaching assigned course load. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master’s degree in computer-related discipline.
  • Must meet MOHE/HLC/accreditor requirements for degree and work experience.  
  • At least 6,000 hours of industry-related experience.
  • IT-related industry credentials (AWS, MS365, Azure, Security , etc.).

Salary : $105,000 - $115,000
