DESCRIPTION

Dunwoody College of Technology is seeking an adjunct instructor for the Math and Sciences Department. Instructors will be responsible for delivering and maintaining curriculum, advising students, taking accurate and timely attendance, and staying in direct communication with faculty and Dean of Arts and Sciences. Classes are paid at $1,017 per credit. 

 

MAJOR OBJECTIVE

This position is responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement in an environment in which students can accomplish the learning objectives of the course of instruction. Results in students able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, ethics, and use of proper tools to meet industry and professional business standards.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions.
  • Creates a positive learning environment.
  • Monitors, assesses and advises learners on technical and academic progress and performance.
  • Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction.
  • Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction.
  • Assists in the recruitment, advising, and placement of learners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Course Description:
This course covers the basic theory and application of electrochemical science. It is targeted toward students who want to better understand the significance of electrochemistry, how electrical, chemical, and mechanical energy are linked. In this course, you will combine the concepts of Gibbs Free Energy, electron flow, and chemical transformation. Course content builds upon chemical reactivity to include electron transfer, electromotive force, and energy storage. Applications to advanced energy systems will also be discussed.

Course Name: Physics 1 with Lab   
Course Description:
Introduction to mechanics using differential calculus as a foundation. Topics include kinematics and dynamics of linear motion, static equilibrium, the conservation of energy and momentum, mechanics of solids and fluids, and thermodynamics. The laboratory portion incorporates experimentation, instrumentation, and graphical tools to verify calculations in motion, mechanics and thermodynamics.

Course Name: How Science Explores The Natural World
Course Description:
Explore science as a process rather than a set of topics. Analyze studies of natural phenomena and determine how they align to the scientific method and how they deviate from it. Rate them based on their adherence to scientific practice. Distinguish what is science from what is not.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Masters degree in Science OR
  • Master's degree in a field that includes at least 18 credits worth of upper level science courses
  • 1 years post-secondary teaching experience
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum effectively
