Position Title: VA Work Study Student
Approximate Hours per Week: 18 – 25
Wage: $15.97
Primary Duties:
- Assist students who use the Veteran and Military Center and with general inquiries about veteran education benefits via phone, email, and in person
- Staff and maintain the Veteran and Military Center during posted hours
- Coordinate trainings and workshops for our Veteran and active Military students
- Post and help create fliers for Veteran and active Military student activities on campus
- Coordinate communication to all Veteran and active Military students
- Work at open houses, orientations and student events as designated Veteran and active Military point of contact
- Collect, compile, and track Veteran and Military Center usage and adjust hours based on student needs
- Serve as a mentor while providing support for new and continuing students receiving veteran educational benefits
- Assist, update, and maintain accurate information on the Dunwoody College of Technology Veteran and Military Student website
- General office duties as it relates to supporting our students receiving veteran educational benefits
Qualifications
- Excellent communications skills and customer service skills with the ability to motivate others and encourage participation
- High cultural competency and respect/sensitivity to all students, colleagues and visitors
- Basic understanding of VA education benefits and a working familiarity with the offices of Dunwoody College of Technology and their responsibilities
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment
- Willingness and ability to follow confidentially guidelines
- Strong self-direction, motivation, and initiative
- Computer skills, primarily Microsoft Office Suite
- Work Study Eligible through the Veteran Affairs Work Study Program:
- At least ¾ to full time student enrollment
