Scope of Services
The Physician agrees to work with the Health Services Administrator and/or designee to deliver medical services consistent with the demands of his/her profession. The physician agrees to render the following medical services.
- Provides clinical services to inmates with regard to security issues.
- Monitors the provision of health care services.
- Performs routine medical exams on inmate-patients. Provides medical treatment and orders studies, tests, and ancillary services that are required consistent with the medical authority’s commitment to provide quality health care services.
- Conducts chronic care clinics and establishes individualized treatment plans for inmates requiring ongoing medical and/or pharmaceutical therapy.
- Provides disease specific inmate education and instructs inmates in basic health hygiene techniques.
- Participates in annual review of policies and procedures to ensure consistency of practice and compliance with national standards
- Provides emergency medical services to inmates and facility staff.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Assist in developing, reviewing and presenting in-service training programs.
- Reviews and initials abnormal laboratory results and all completed health appraisals
- Countersigns verbal and telephone orders.
- Monitors the use of nursing protocols.
- Provides 24 hour on-call service.
- Monitors the care provided by other health care professionals.
- Obtains informed consent for all invasive procedures
- Utilizes the master problem list to document inmate health conditions.
- Assist in eliminating any backlog of inmates awaiting either history and physical examination and/or sick call.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participation in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as assigned
- Maintain required training, and proper program licensure and/or certifications
- Perform related duties as required or assigned within job classification
QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral Degree MD/DO
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Possession of a valid License as required by the State of IL
- Current CPR certification
- This position requires a background check
