Medical Receptionist duties and responsibilities

Medical Receptionists perform a variety of duties in order to support the medical staff and its patients. They are the main liaisons of a medical facility, interacting with patients and medical staff. They act as mediators in communication. A Medical Receptionist’s duties and responsibilities also include:

• Their duties include greeting visitors, maintaining appointments
• Answering phones and forwarding calls to the appropriate party, or taking down messages for forwarding later
• The Medical Receptionist may also perform clerical work and disseminate information to medical staff.
• Collecting patient information and providing it to relevant medical leads
• Tracking availability and preparing patients before their appointments
• Informing medical staff when a patient has arrived or is waiting
• Ensuring that each patient has the proper documentation and sign-in sheets
• Handling correspondence and file transfers
• Checking on medical staff throughout the
• Seamless coordination with our billing services after the orientation with that agency
• Make sure all overnight messages are promptly listened to first thing in the morning and responded promptly, call back those who are seeking appointment
• Do a proper intake verifying their insurance card, retaining a copy of their ID, retaining credit card information where we can charge the card, after informing the card holder of the co-pay, or any payment plans that the pt has consented to
• Periodically re-check and verify that the insurance and credit cards are current
• Assist in Ketamine, Spravato administration, monitoring
• Medical Assistant license necessary
