What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Learning and Media Coordinator position at Duplin County Schools?
The role of the Digital Learning and Media Coordinator is to be a leader, digital learning and media program administrator, and master teacher. This position will implement a comprehensive digital learning and media program that enhances teaching and learning across the school. The individual will manage media resources, foster a love for reading throughout the building, and provide coaching and support to the staff and administrators on effective blended learning strategies, the implementation of North Carolina Digital Learning Standards for Students, and the North Carolina Digital Learning Competencies. This position will champion emerging educational technologies, cultivate digital literacy, and foster an environment where technology seamlessly integrates with the curriculum to create engaging, accessible, and future-ready learning experiences.
Essential Functions:
Leadership
- Provides leadership in collaboratively planning, promoting, and sustaining the school library media program, technology infrastructure, services, and resources
- Participates in and/or leads the development and implementation of the school improvement plan, media collection plan, and digital learning plan
- Works collaboratively with school personnel for strategic planning, to create professional learning communities, and to integrate information and digital resources into all curricular areas
- Models and leads future-ready teaching and learning concepts and strategies
- Participates in and/or leads Professional Learning Communities and School Leadership Team
- Provides and leads professional development on information, digital resources, and blended learning instructional strategies for all curricular areas to meet the needs of a diverse population of students.
- Models high ethical standards and educates students, teachers, and other members of the school community to use best practices in copyright, ethical access and use of resources, intellectual property, and digital citizenship
- Utilizes data to understand the diverse needs of the school community and to recommend to school and/or district administrators changes to education programs and policies
- Serves as the School Digital Learning/Technology Facilitator
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Program Administrator
- Establishes the library media center as both a physical and virtual shared space, open, equitable, and accessible for active learning, participation, collaboration, and teamwork, and provides flexibility to accommodate multiple learning styles, future-ready skills, and reading enjoyment.
- Makes skills, expertise, and resources of the media center flexibly available and easily accessible to all members of the school community
- Ensures that the media center collection is aligned with and supports the NC Standard Course of Study and provides for the recreational and informational needs of students in a variety of formats
- Fosters global literacy, awareness, and cultural understanding
- Champions reading for information, pleasure, and lifelong learning
- Collaboratively creates, aligns, and implements a program informed by state and national guidelines and research-based best practices
- Encourages teachers & students to apply an inquiry-based approach to learning through leading and collaboratively planning, implementing, and accessing inquiry-based instructions
- Adheres to, communicates, and provides instruction on copyright, digital citizenship, and other laws and guidelines on the distribution and ethical use of all resources.
Master Teacher
- Uses technology, research-based, innovative instructional strategies to deliver instruction, engage students, and cultivate and support students’ reading interests and learning styles
- Collaboratively designs differentiated instruction that assures the integration of content, pedagogy, creativity, critical thinking, and digital learning across the curriculum
- Integrates future-ready skills in instructional design, delivery, and assessment to meet curriculum objectives and produce positive student learning outcomes.
- Collaborates with teachers to integrate effective strategies for accessing, evaluating, and synthesizing information resources to support teaching and learning
- Actively seeks ongoing professional development to improve professional practice and the effectiveness of the media and digital learning program
- Adapts professional practice based on research and student data to support school goals
AIG Specialist
- Screen and assess students for AIG identification
- Develop and ensure the implementation of Differentiated Education Plans (DEPs) in collaboration with the Gifted Education Team
- Lead the school's Gifted Collaboration Team to align AIG services with curriculum goals and student needs
- Provide targeted one-on-one and small group support and enrichment to AIG students in collaboration with school counselors
- Connect AIG students with appropriate enrichment and leadership opportunities
- Provide professional development for staff on differentiation strategies, characteristics of gifted learners, and evidence-based practices for supporting advanced learners
Bachelor's degree, 076 NC School Library Media Certification and/or 077 NC Instructional Technology Certification
