DuPont Electronics & Industrial business has an opening for an Analytical Laboratory Scientist to join the Digital Printing Organization. The Digital Printing business is responsible for supplying aqueous inks for printing on both textiles & commercial packages. The opening is within our Research & Development (R&D) organization, a team that designs, makes, tests, and qualifies next-generation digital inks for new customers within the industry. The analytical laboratory supports the R&D, Manufacturing Technology (MT) and Quality organizations, and plays a crucial role in the qualification, detection, quantification and troubleshooting of our raw materials, products, and intermediates.
The Analytical Laboratory Scientist is expected to prepare samples, operate and maintain equipment, manipulate software and run analysis, document and communicate analytical results. It has long been regarded that the Analytical Laboratory Scientist in the analytical lab to be cross trained on all equipment. Although individuals may be a point person on an instrument, the expectation is that individuals are fully capable to run and maintain all equipment in the lab. The complexity of tests performed, the level of judgment needed, and the amount of responsibility workers assume lends to a self-motivated person with an appropriate level of analytical expertise. Time management, multitasking and diligence are essential skills for this role as this team supports many customers, both internal and external. The applicant will work alongside of a team of scientists and will have the opportunity to learn about ink design, formulation, the ink jetting process, and characterizing end use properties of an ink in addition to the core responsibilities of the role.
Responsibilities :
Work full-time in a laboratory setting alongside a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians
Responsible for performing tests in a lab environment based on established test methods, as well as working in tandem with engineers and chemists to perform custom testing as needed
Compile results, conduct analyses, and report the results in a timely manner
Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits
Draft & maintain proper safety documentation ensure compliance with Dupont safety standards
Engage with the broader team of scientists to discuss test results & ensure we are gaining valuable information that establishes a competitive advantage of our products
Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork
Maintenance and checks or calibrations of lab instruments, in-house repair where possible
Responsible for scheduling of yearly instrument PMs
Assisting experimenters and MT with in-process samples and plant raw material approvals
Perform Gage R&R studies on equipment and methods across multiple sites and functions
Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies
Commitment to safety
Qualifications :
BS degree in Chemistry or related science field
Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
Experience working in a laboratory setting with analytical equipment
Proven experience conducting physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative or quantitative analyses on dispersion and polymer
Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

Job Information :
The position is in Wilmington, DE at the DuPont Experimental Station. The successful applicant will be under the direct supervision of Technical Manager. Day to day work will take place on-site in our analytical laboratory.
