Laboratory Technologist
Within the Electronics and Industrial (E&I) organization at the Experimental station, we are looking to reinforce our team to support the DuPont™ Kalrez® product line. This business focus on high-performance parts that provide sealing solutions in various industries, including chemical, life sciences, aerospace, energy and electronics.
Within our ESL R&D team, we are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist, Kalrez® at our Experimental Station site in Wilmington, DE.
Technician who will assist in running fluoroelastomers semiworks units that are used to conduct new polymer product research and process research. A variety of hazardous materials are used under pressure, including tetrafluoroethylene.
The position requires 12-hour shift rotations. Four day a week operation is standard, but five-day coverage is possible in cases of extraordinary customer demand.
Technical supervision is on site during business hours. The role requires hands-on activity associated with daily operations :
preparation of aqueous and organic solutions
operating polymerization unit and associated support equipment
repairing, cleaning and maintenance of equipment
performing equipment calibrations
maintaining research notebooks
contributing support to general shared process area
polymer isolation
maintaining part and material inventory
The following qualifications are Required :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing OR semi-work experience.
Must possess technical and mechanical competency to operate process equipment
Must be flexible, adaptable, dependable, reliable, and must be able to work in a team environment.
Must be able to follow written instructions, basic arithmetic, and keep written logs.
Must be physically fit, be able to stand for 8-hour shifts, lift up to 50 lbs. and have a medical clearance.
Ability to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, hearing protection, thermal protective clothing and respirator as needed
Must have demonstrated a strong safety commitment
Will be required to learn how to operate distributive process and control computer system (Rockwell software)
Language skills : Basic English, other languages welcome.

Previous TFE handling experience
Polymerization experience
Gas chromatograph experience
