DuPont Pontchartrain Site is looking for a Process Control Technician. This position is responsible for maintenance, support, and backup of the basic process control system, safety interlock systems, programmable electronic systems, wireless process control system, and process control network hardware as well as some software and configuration of these and associated systems. This includes but is not limited to virtual systems, hard server racks, operator stations, data historian and uninterruptible power systems. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, spare parts ordering/inventory, cost tracking, development of process control maintenance procedures, generation/review of interlock procedures from logic drawings, troubleshooting process as well as equipment issues, oversight/implementation of process control projects and changes of design, originating permits, implementation/removal of bypasses, working with third party vendors, and training/consulting on process control design with technical, mechanical, and production personnel.
Specific site systems consist of Honeywell Experion DCS with Series C I/O, Honeywell Safety Manager with chassis and USIO, Honeywell FX2 Virtual system, Maestro PLC’s, IP21 data historian, Honeywell OneWireless system including third-party transmitters, mostly Cisco PCN switches, Liebert UPS, Experion backup and recovery system, and eServer. This position functions as a liaison between production, technical, maintenance, and construction to coordinate maintenance and project activities in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
The successful candidate will be results oriented, have excellent problem- solving skills, good communication skills, and will manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
Responsibilities
Provide first-line troubleshooting on process control systems, safety interlock systems, uninterruptable power systems, and the associated applications and infrastructure. (Off-hours support may be required)
Participate in regular and scheduled maintenance activities on Process Automation (PA) systems and infrastructure with vendor/contractor support and other internal and external maintenance functions.
Evaluate risks to ensure safe and reliable plant operations during troubleshooting and maintenance activities on control systems and applications.
Ensure all changes follow a Management of Change (MOC) process and are properly tested prior to loading into a production system per plant procedures.
Participate on project/improvement teams and implements small projects under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer or other A&PC resources.
Execute physical and cyber security maintenance of control systems, including backups, patches and updates.
Implement and support control system best practices under the direction of the Process Automation Engineer and/or other A&PC resources/guidance (i.e., A&PC FLS, book of conventions).
Knowledge of operating concepts and maintenance of the basic process control system, safety interlock system, and programmable logic controllers.
Qualifications
High school Diploma or GED equivalent. (Required)
5 years minimum experience in the field of Industrial Instrumentation and/or Industrial Control Room Operator (Required)
Experience troubleshooting industrial instrument loops/strategies, including pressure, temperature, level and flow loops. (Required)
Education related to Industrial Instrumentation, operational technology or process control from an accredited technical school/college (Preferred)
Experience with DCS, SIS, or PLC configuration (Preferred)
Experience conducting/writing/reviewing interlock procedures (Preferred)
Industrial control room operator experience (Preferred)
Operational Technology background or experience (Preferred)
Experience building graphics (Preferred)
Certified Control Systems Technician (Preferred)
Knowledge/experience troubleshooting ethernet or serial networks (Preferred)
Demonstrated competence with Microsoft desktop applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
