The Accounting Associate role supports various functions to ensure the smooth operation of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable. This position is responsible for performing routine accounting, auditing and analytical duties, month-end close, year-end reporting, and other administrative tasks. The role actively enforces company policies to promote an effective control environment.
Location: Hybrid, downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:

Reconcile vendor/customer statements and resolve discrepancies promptly; communicate with vendor/customers to address inquiries and resolve payment-related issues

Collaborate with internal departments to properly match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices

Monitor aging and credit balances taking appropriate actions to address outstanding items

Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts, journal entries, assist in the preparation of annual 1099 forms and escheatment filing and preparing necessary journal entries.

Research, track and resolve accounting discrepancies and questions

Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of supporting documentation as required

Communicate with external and internal clients in a clear, concise, and professional manner

Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows

Comply with internal controls and financial policies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data

Ad-hoc internal reporting and analysis

Performs other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.

In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

2years' experience in a financial or accounting position with an emphasis on Accounts Payable, Payroll or Accounts Receivable.
Preferred: Experience in the utility industry

Sound accounting working knowledge.

Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.

Outstanding oral and written communication and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and employees, as well as external customers.

Ability to work independently while keeping key constituents and stakeholders informed and appropriately involved.

Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work in a fast-pace and changing environment.

Must be highly regarded for integrity, flexibility, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office with Intermediate to Advanced Skills in Excel.
