Standardized Patient – College of Osteopathic Medicine Salary: $25.00 per hour POSITION
SUMMARY: Standardized Patients (SPs) are individuals recruited from the community who
are expertly trained to support the educational goals of the College of
Osteopathic Medicine at Duquesne University (DUQCOM), DUQ health sciences, and
other Duquesne University programs. These professionals engage in role play and
manikin-based simulations, providing realistic scenarios for the training and
assessment of students. SPs may assume various roles including patients, family
members, or colleagues to effectively aid in simulation-based learning and
evaluation. DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Delivers precise and effective communication to learners, faculty, and staff
during simulations and debriefings. Observes and documents learner
performance meticulously, aligning with predefined training objectives. Memorizes and articulates detailed case
scenarios, including patient symptoms, histories, and emotional cues, to
enhance the realism and educational value of simulations. Portrays patient cases with
consistency, compassion, and emotional accuracy to foster an immersive learning
environment. Provides objective feedback on learner
interactions, noting specific behaviors and communication styles. Accurately record work hours for each assignment, ensuring payroll accuracy. Maintains clear and prompt communication with administrative staff regarding
scheduling, operational queries, or unforeseen issues. Arrives on time and well-prepared for
all simulations and training sessions, having thoroughly reviewed relevant
materials. Actively participate in the review and
refinement of simulation scenarios, offering constructive feedback where
necessary. Supports a variety of projects,
including faculty development and research initiatives, to optimize the
effectiveness of the simulation program. Engages fully in required training sessions to maintain high standards of
performance. Participates in simulation exercises as
designated, contributing to the breadth of learning experiences. Upholds strict confidentiality
regarding all educational materials, student data, and proprietary information. Completes other
duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications: High School
diploma or GED; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Basic technical
literacy with consistent internet access; advanced technical skills are
beneficial. Reliable personal
transportation. Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of
experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities
required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not
limited to, the following: Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong
observational skills and an excellent memory. Dependable, with
a proven track record of punctuality and responsiveness. Capable of
managing multiple tasks efficiently under tight time constraints. Demonstrated
ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including colleagues,
students, and faculty. Openness to
receive and integrate feedback on performance. Acute situational
and self-awareness, essential for realistic simulations. Willingness to
participate in physical exams as part of simulation scenarios. Adaptable and
