We are currently seeking a highly motivated and resourceful UT Level II for our Steelton, PA facility.
Dura-Bond manufactures and coats large diameter steel line pipe at our Steelton facility located in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale region. Our mill produces API straight seam DSAW pipe in diameters ranging from 24” to 42”, in grades up to X-80 and in lengths up to 80’. We employ the latest advancements in welding, pipe mill tracking and non-destructive testing. Dura-Bond’s inspection processes meet the pipeline industry’s highest standard for steel pipe quality.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the inspection of Petroleum line pipe utilizing a state-of-the-art Phased Array automated system; and to confirm that these products meet API and customer specifications.
This is permanent direct hire position; all considered applicants must pass background and substance screening.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Inspect material quality by means of automated UT examination for DSAW pipe manufacturing operations
- Perform UT methods as a certified NDT Level II technician
- Perform daily process controls, calibration checks and maintain accurate records (logs) per quality program requirements
- General housekeeping and preventive maintenance are essential to maximize productivity, and for safe reliable operation of the UT equipment
- Good communication skills for explaining NDT inspection methods to customer contacts and outside inspection agencies
- Must have a strong mechanical background, and the ability to set up/calibrate automated NDE equipment
- When needed, assist other UT techs with conventional UT "hand scanning"
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a high school diploma and Level II UT Certification or documented UT inspection hours
- A minimum of two (2) years NDT experience is essential. (five (5) years of NDT experience is a plus)
- One (1) - three (3) years’ experience with API products desirable
- Previous experience within a pipe mill environment preferred
- Must have an aptitude for electronics and computer-based UT systems
- Experience with general hand tools, measuring equipment and specific NDE related instruments Required
- Must be knowledgeable of applicable codes and specifications relating to quality requirements; accept/reject criteria and written instructions or procedures
- Understanding of automated UT inspection equipment is beneficial
The ideal candidate would be a Level II Ultrasonic Inspector, with recent/past experience in UT Inspection. Phased Array training and other NDT methods, such as Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic particle (MPI), Radiographic (RT), and Visual (VT) would be a plus.
