What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Leader position at Durango Mall?
Durango Mall is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Leader to oversee the upkeep, repair, and cleanliness of our buildings and grounds. This working leadership role is 75% maintenance work and 25% administrative/supervisory duties. You’ll manage daily operations, perform repairs, direct custodial staff, and coordinate with contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general and preventative maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, pest control, etc.)
- Operate and maintain custodial and maintenance equipment (forklift, lifts, floor scrubbers)
- Monitor building systems and handle repairs in-house where possible
- Supervise, train, and lead custodial/maintenance staff
- Ensure safety protocols are followed
- Communicate with management, staff, and tenants regularly
Qualifications:
- 5 years of commercial building maintenance experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- 3 years of custodial/operations experience (supervisory experience preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent; tech/vocational certification is a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Punctual and flexible availability (some weekends/holidays)
Physical Requirements: Include but are not limited to the ability to lift (45lbs regularly, 70lbs occasionally), bend, climb, kneel, and work on your feet for extended periods in indoor/outdoor conditions.
