Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Behavioral Interventionist to join the team and work alongside the SPED Teacher, BCBA, and Special Education Paraprofessionals in the Autism Center at Florida Mesa Elementary School. Must hold a Registerd Behavior Technician (RBT) certification at time of hire or obtain an RBT certification within 30 days of hire. This position is 1.0 FTE, includes benefits and begins March 3, 2025 or ASAP.

SUMMARY
:

Under the direction of the Student Support Services Department and the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the Behavior Interventionist provides behavior intervention support to students and staff in the implementation of behavior plans across district schools. This position is 193 days - 183 days fall during the Academic Calendar for the school district, the additional 10 days are during the month of June to support Extended School Year (ESY). The placement of the 10 days in June are scheduled by the end of January with the direct supervisor.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide information, guidance, training and assistance to school-based teams through observations, reviewing of records, attending meetings, side-by-side coaching, data collection, and consultation.
  • Assist BCBA in the development and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans for students with Tier 3 support..
  • Assist in assessment of Behavior Intervention Plans, data collection, and data analysis of individual students, classrooms, or schools.
  • Provide trainings for classroom teachers, administration, paraprofessionals, parents, and related service providers on Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, crisis management, data collection and analysis as related to Mild/Moderate students as well as students with significant support needs, serious emotional disabilities and Autism Spectrum disorders.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of specialized programming and staff development.
  • Monitors and records data on academic and/or behavioral information for the purpose of measuring student progress in identified areas.
  • Implements behavioral plans designed by the BCBA, in conjunction with the IEP or student support team, for the purpose of assisting in meeting students needs and providing a consistent environment.
  • Support the Executive Director and Coordinator of Student Support Services in the area of behavior systems and management. Collaborate with other district members, community services, outside providers, school based teams, administrators and problem solving teams.
  • Travels to school sites as required for the purpose of performing services at varied sites.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university.


EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with behavior management and intervention systems is required.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Registered Behavior Technician Certification is required for this position unless the individual is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Will be required to complete CPI training.

  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to utilize FBAs to support plan development.
  • Ability to implement IEP’s, 504’s, and behavior support plans.


MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Student Information Systems.
