Job Summary: The Gift Shop Lead supports the Gift Shop Supervisor in various retail aspects of our Gift Shop/Store departments and the shops located throughout the property. This position will assist with merchandising, product display, maintain inventory levels in stores, store upkeep, assist with employee training and support all gift shop personnel. Our ideal candidate enjoys interacting with the public and strives to provide the highest level of customer service and support to guests and staff alike. This can be a fast-paced position that the candidate will be expected to consistently focus on accuracy, excellence and exceeding customer service expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Gift Shop Supervisor with merchandizing, product display and appropriate stocking of all onsite gift shop locations.
- Assists the Gift Shop Supervisor with ensuring that sales employees are providing the highest level of customer service to guests.
- Insists that gift shop locations exude a bright and inviting atmosphere so that customers feel welcome while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Assists the Gift Shop Supervisor in implementing effective methods for motivating sales staff to exceed sales goals established for department.
- Supports Gift Shop Supervisor in establishing a high standard of product knowledge for sales staff.
- As needed assist the Gift Shop Supervisor with minor administrative activities.
- Assists Gift Shop Supervisor with special projects or accepts any other duties requested, as necessary.
Education, Skill and Work Experience:
- Experience employing effective sales techniques while providing excellent customer service.
- Prior experience supervising a dynamic and multigenerational staff in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment.
- At least years of retail sales or other applicable experience, strongly preferred.
- Proven experience driving sales growth.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences (employees, management and the public).
- Prior experience and a working knowledge of Point of Sales systems a plus!
- Ability to use computers, MS Office and other applications to handle regular supervisory tasks such as drafting memos, creating schedules, organizing labor counts/budgets, et. al.
Work Environment:
- Majority of time spent on feet and walking and standing on hard surfaces for 8-10 hours per day.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs and to pull a dock cart across railroad tracks.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule sometimes requiring evenings, weekends, special events and overtime hours.
- Comfort with bending, twisting, kneeling to position merchandise or to organize merchandise displays.
Salary : $18 - $21
