Job Title: Durant ISD Instructional Coach (PK-12) for the 2025/2026 school year
Reports To: Director of Curriculum
Job Summary: An Instructional Coach is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure teacher and student success. Instructional coaches promote reflection, provide guidance and structure where needed, and focus on strengths, collaboration, and common issues of concern. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers. This position will be on a 202 day contract.
Salary: Commensurate to experience
Essential Functions:
- Mentors and supports novice teachers (emphasizing those that have 0-3 years of experience) in development of skills and best practice strategies in academic knowledge, classroom management, and technology integration.
- Supports and facilitates the review, alignment, and implementation of comprehensive PK-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Assists teachers in improving their teaching effectiveness.
- Provides professional development opportunities for teaching staff to increase the depth of content knowledge and strategies.
- Reviews lesson plans and instructional activities for the improvement of student performance.
- Models lessons in classrooms as needed.
- Supports the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the district curriculum and varied assessments, teaching framework, and data analysis.
- Builds strong relationships with teachers and administrators.
- Provides direction and support for how curriculum is taught consistent with district initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Assists teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc., to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Supports educators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
- Assists teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Informally observes (non-evaluative) lessons and provides feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
- Develops staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Develops coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
- Motivates adult learners to improve professional practice.
- Contributes to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools.
Qualifications:
- Masters' degree from an accredited college/university
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience and current teacher certification
- TLE certification (or willingness to get certified).
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and local standards.
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing with adult learners.
- Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team.
- Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection.
