School Nurse Assistant - REL

Durant Public Schools is seeking to fill a position for School Nurse Assistant for the 2025-2026 school term.

Qualifications: Licensed Practical Nurse Certification

Be aware of job responsibilities and relted activities; show initiative and be willing to

perform duties without having to be directed

Demonstrates competence and aptitude for assigned responsibilities

Reports to: School District's Registered Nurse and Building Principal

Job Goal: To assist health services coordinator and school nurse(s) in providing the fullest

possible eductional opportunity for each student in the District by minimizing absence

due to illness by creating a climate of health and well being in District schools

Reponsibilities: Assists health services coordinator, the appropriate school school health

committee and administrators in developing a school health program.

Conducts school immunization programs and vision and hearing testing as directed

Observe students on regular basis to detect health needs

Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students

Visits student homes when necessary

Assumes authority for the care of students or staff members who have suffered an

injury or emergency illness

Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures

Implements policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with

infectious and contagious diseases after conferring with school nurse or health

services coordinator

Participates in in-service training programs

Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools

Administers medication, prescription and non-prescription, at school as prescribed by

individual student's physician and Oklahoma State Law
