This Role:
Our Turners Falls, MA production team is seeking a skilled Machinist to join us. This is a full-time, in-person position on the day shift, Mon-Fri with occasional overtime/weekends as needed.
What You’ll Do:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
How You’ll Do It:
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to produce precision parts
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation for machining operations
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to ensure accuracy
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards
- Troubleshoot issues with machinery and perform maintenance tasks as needed
What You’ll Need (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or apprenticeship program preferred
- Proven experience as a Machinist or similar role
- Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings required
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques and processes required
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation required
- Ability to use power tools and precision measuring instruments accurately required
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) preferred
- Proficient in CAD software for creating or modifying designs preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles preferred
