This Role:

The Network Security Engineer role is a skilled direct contributor position reporting to our Infrastructure Manager. It is a direct-hire, full time role.  While we are open to remote candidates, preference will be given to candidates that are available/willing to work within a hybrid capacity (2-3 days/week) from one of our following office locations: Grand Rapids, MI, or Detroit MI.



What You Will Do:

The Senior Network Engineer ensures the company’s technological infrastructure is performing optimally through the implementation, performance assessment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and protection of all network and server equipment.



How You Will Do It:

  • Manage company servers in a Windows and environment, ensuring that each server has as close to 100% uptime as is practical.
  • Perform basic systems security administration functions, including creating customer profiles and accounts.
  • Monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, tape backup systems, and response times to maintain operating efficiency; maintains systems documentation and logs.
  • Perform systems backups and recovery procedures.
  • Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate systems administration tasks.
  • Troubleshoot problems with networks, web services, mail services and overall aspects of the LAN/WAN.
  • Assist in the correction of system failures, operations, and software problems to determine causes and repairs.
  • Manage and support secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs);
  • Keep current with new security and network monitoring technologies, applicable laws, and regulations, including encryption of sensitive information to meet security protocols and legal requirements.
  • Help evaluate hardware and software for DuraVent users to ensure suitability, compatibility, and economy prior to purchase.
  • Help maintain software licenses and supervise compliance with various licensing and copyright requirements.
  • Provide teleconference and Web conference set up, including set up of necessary devices for each event, establishing remote connections on video conference unit and maintain network configuration to support conferencing.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages and hardware; continuously upgrades knowledge of technology for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Research, prepare, and present oral and written reports as necessary; maintain necessary records.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WLAN, and SDWAN architecture for the organization as per the business policy
  • Generate/maintain virtual private networks/firewalls, web protocols and email security
  • Manage a virus detection system, analyze/implement new security protocols for greater efficiency against threats/malfunctions
  • Investigate security breach alerts, resolve security issues including hardware malfunctions
  • Maintain the regulatory systems about ISMS (Information System Management Systems) policy
  • Maintain and implement SOP for network security
  • Supervise the installation of new hardware/software
  • Knowledge of performing routing protocols (MPLS, OSPF, HAIPE/IP, QOS and WAN)
  • Monitor web security gateways, perimeter security, network access controls, endpoint security


What We’re Looking For:

For this mid to advanced career role, we are seeking candidates that offer:

  • Current valid U.S. work authorization (without requiring future sponsorship) (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Information Technology or Computer Information Systems (strongly preferred)
  • Previous on-the-job experience with the following: Azure, LAN/WAN/SDWAN technologies, Cisco Catalyst/Meraki, Palo Alto, TCP/IP networking/routing, client/server apps (required)
  • Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible professional experiences in systems administration, network management, IT security, or applications programming (required)
