Pellet Mill Operator – 2nd Shift

Job Summary:

The Pellet Mill Operator position is in Springfield, NH at the Durgin & Crowell Lumber Co., Inc facility. The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for keeping up with the production flow. The hours and days of operation are Monday through Friday 12:00 pm - to 8:00 pm (unless otherwise negotiated before hire), however, hours may vary based on project needs.

*Training hours differ – Training will be conducted during first shift hours

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for keeping up with the flow of production
• Perform and document required inspections of equipment and maintain equipment in good condition
• Adjust machine components to regulate speed, pressure and temperatures of the machine, amount, dimensions, and flow of materials and ingredients.
• Monitor machine operations and observe indicator lights and gauges, such as thermometers, voltage meters, and timers to detect malfunctions.
• Perform maintenance on equipment per job instructions.
• Perform housekeeping to the required standard to foster productivity and efficiency
• Maintain consistent production quality to the required standard.
• Perform quality control testing
• Complete accurate reporting as required.
• Communicate operational information as required.
• Enter maintenance work requests as applicable.
• Escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner.
• Required to operate loader
• Required to operate forklift
• Used in coordination with the bagging system
• Used for inventory and loading materials on flatbeds
• Conduct activities in a safe manner, follow corporate safety guidelines and requirements, use personal protective equipment, and proactively address any unsafe conditions observed
• Other duties and tasks as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must have basic computer skills and be able to understand electronic data processing.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal, communication skills for effective interface with all internal contacts.
• Proficient in mathematics and measurements
• Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude
• Operate equipment safely and responsibly
• Ability to read data and trends to make appropriate process adjustments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills
• Must have a professional attitude and work well with others
• Promote a safe working environment and follow all workplace and job safety procedures

Education and Experience:

• Driver License Required
• One year of previous manufacturing experience (Preferred not required)
• One year of previous pellet mill manufacturing experience or Hammer Mill (Preferred not required)
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
• Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
• Willing and able to bend, stretch, push, and move to reach, clean, service machinery and pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
• Willing and able to inspect machines visually

Work Environment:

• Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, and noisy industrial environment
• Willing and able to service areas 40-50 feet above ground level
• Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
• Walking on slippery or uneven surfaces from time to time
• Buildings and grounds are non-smoking except in designated smoking areas
