What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head JV Girls Lacrosse Coach position at Durham Academy?
Job Responsibilities:
- Run tryouts and team selection in consultation with the Varsity Head Coach
- Plan and execute effective practices
- Create and execute game strategy
- Drive a minibus to all road games
- Communicate regularly with student-athletes and their families through email about logistics and updates
- Collaborate with all coaches in the girls lacrosse program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty
Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 90-minute practices with 2–3 games per week. This position reports to both the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach and the Director of Athletics.
The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
- Experience playing or coaching lacrosse at the interscholastic or collegiate level.
- A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
- The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
