What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Learning Support Coach position at Durham Academy?
The Lower School Learning Support Coach will be responsible for providing one-on-one and supplemental reading, writing, and math instruction for students in first through fourth grades. This position is ideal for the education professional with classroom experience looking to work collaboratively with teachers and families to provide one-on-one or small-group instruction for students who benefit from direct and systemic instruction to support the attainment of grade-level curriculum. Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
- Experience working with children ages 6-9, in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge base in the areas of learning differences, ADHD, and executive functioning skills.
- Deep knowledge of early intervention, assessment, and research-based practices in reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Experience administering curriculum-based measurements and progress monitoring assessments.
- Ability to analyze student data and create tailored goals for individual students.
- Provide and interpret student progress monitoring reports to staff members and families.
- Ability to collaborate with DA’s Learning Specialists, teachers, and families.
- Strong behavior management skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A very high level of energy, creativity, flexibility, and sense of humor.
