Middle School Latin Teacher/Advisor

Durham Academy
Durham, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 1/16/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/13/2025
Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for a full-time Middle School Latin Teacher to begin August 2025. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, although an advanced degree or other commensurate experience is preferred. Candidates should be able to teach Latin to Middle School students who vary in experience from Novice to Novice High in the ACTFL framework. Preference will be given to candidates who have familiarity with ACTFL and with giving feedback in a competency-based system. Regardless of proficiency in either of these approaches, candidates should be willing to learn about how to incorporate them into their practice. A passion for working with middle school students is a requisite. This position reports to the Middle School Director.

On occasion, DA Middle School teachers teach across disciplines. If candidates can also teach hands-on computer science content, please include that in a cover letter. Our primary consideration for this position is the ability to teach Latin.

  • Collaborate closely with other World Languages teachers
  • Serving as a Middle School Advisor for 10-12 students
  • Carry out required supervisory duties
