What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARAMEDIC position at Durham County?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs responsible work in rendering emergency and non-emergency medical care and life-saving measures to critically ill or injured persons of all ages on basic and advanced life support levels.
Requires successful completion of the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Services training program or an equivalent training program.
Employment is contingent on passing an assessment center, physical agility test, pre-employment drug screen, skills validation program, clinical and operational clearance during the year-long probationary period.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires successful completion of the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Services Paramedic certification program or equivalent training program.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must have a valid NC driver's license with a three year acceptable driving record.

We are hiring for EMS Academy 40 which begins June 9, 2025. The Assessment Center process is and March 27th and 28th for paramedics only. There is a second Assessment Center occuring April 11th through April 17th, 2025. If you are selected to participate in an upcoming assessment center, you will be contacted by Office of Emergency Services / EMS regarding an invitation.
