RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position is based in the Employee Retention Unit within the Department of Social Services. The Senior Staff Development Specialist is responsible for the planning, coordination, facilitation, and communication of training programs across the agency. As the lead trainer for DSS-specific and soft skills training, the incumbent will oversee the development and implementation of training plans and course content to ensure alignment with county and agency objectives. The role involves regular communication with programs to provide updates on changes in training policies or practices, ensuring all staff are informed of any developments. The Senior Staff Development Specialist will also design and deliver engaging training programs and resources, while managing external training partnerships and utilizing the most effective instructional methods and media. Additionally, the position includes evaluating training effectiveness to optimize return on investment (ROI), through ongoing monitoring and auditing of both internal and external training activities. The incumbent will provide leadership and guidance in areas such as curriculum development, team building, program support, inter-organizational collaboration, material distribution, and evaluation. Furthermore, the Senior Staff Development Specialist will serve as the primary facilitator for the Department of Social Services’ internal Leadership Development Academy.

REQUIREMENTS :
Requires an Bachelor’s degree supplemented by two (2) to four (4) years of responsible experience human services program, counseling or training or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
PREFFRED :
Previous experience in training and development, organizational development, counseling, or human resources is preferred. Additionally, exposure to, certification in, and the ability to train in the following areas are highly desirable :
