About the Role:

As the Resident Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Durham Housing Authority residents. You will be the primary point of contact for all safety-related issues and will work closely with our team to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures. Your main goal will be to create a safe and secure environment for our residents to live and work in. Leading the Safety Office, the Manager will perform administrative work supervising, directing, coordinating, and participating in safety, crime prevention, fire prevention, security programs/events, and other actions necessary to provide safe housing to Authority residents, and related work as apparent or assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in safety management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid State issued Drivers License is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in safety management or a related field.
  • Experience working in a residential or community setting.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and audits.
  • Experience providing safety training and education.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and security of our residents.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Provide safety training and education to our residents and staff.
  • Investigate safety incidents and accidents and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Emergency callback is likely and required.

Skills:

As a Resident Safety Manager, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety protocols and procedures to our residents and staff. You will also need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential hazards and risks and develop effective solutions. Additionally, you will need to have strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects and priorities. Finally, you will need to have a strong attention to detail to ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are followed correctly.
