Septic Service Technician
The Septic Service Technician will apply their technical skills and knowledge in performing diagnostic, service, repair, & maintenance of septic systems in residential and light commercial environments and ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of service processes, diagnostics, techniques, and codes.
- Advanced ability to effectively diagnose, repair and maintain septic systems and/or equipment.
- Maintain professional and positive attitude.
- Multi-Task in a fast paced and deadline driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills required.
- Completion of BMP Course through TOWA.
- Maintain current TCEQ Maintenance Tech License.
- Valid Texas DL and be insurable.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Performs residential and light commercial septic service call, inspections, and repairs.
- Reviews site evaluations, designs, TCEQ 285 rules, manufacturer manual and specifications to determine work details and procedure.
- Identifies potential problems to prevent premature and/or unexpected breakdowns/callbacks.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, ream, assemble, and install pipe and pipe fittings.
- Installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools.
- Maintains properly clean and stocked company vehicle.
- Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools in a safety-conscious manner.
- Attends weekly departmental meetings.
- Participates in periodic inventory and truck inspections.
- Participates in technician on-call rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.
- Explains to the client each service performed each time a maintenance or repair is completed and ensures complete customer satisfaction.
- Provides pricing to the customer for approval prior to performing any work.
- Explains club membership agreements to every client
- Debriefs with dispatch after completion of every job.
- Creates or calls in for PO numbers for any materials picked up at suppliers and provides cost before and after taxes to ensure accuracy.
- Maintains accurate documentation of service calls and time management.
- Submits all complete paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Turns in all parts receipts/packing slips daily and has corresponding job numbers written on them.
- Participate in all company-sponsored training classes.
- Always maintain a professional image by:
- Wearing only company-approved and provided Dusty Underwood Plumbing & Septic uniform.
- Following safety policies and procedures.
- Abiding by all company standards of performance and code of ethics.
- Maintaining a courteous demeanor with all customers and associates.
- Maintains company vehicle, ensuring cleanliness and organization, both inside and out.
- Respecting the customer’s property.

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds on occasion.
