TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT :

  • Full-time, 12-month, tenure track, building-level administrative assignment.

REPORTS TO : School Principal

SUPERVISES : Faculty and staff in the Resilience Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS,

EXPERIENCE AND

COMPETENCIES :

  • NYS certification as a School Building Leader is required.
  • NYS Certification in Special Education title is required
  • Experience with the New York State Assessment and High School Level experience preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience in the area of Special Education is required,
  • High School experience preferred

  • Involvement with Autism Training preferred
  • Successful record in the planning, development and assessment of MTSS.
  • Successful record of service as teacher is required.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and human relations skills.
  • DUTIES AND

    RESPONSIBILITIES : General Administration / Management

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Resilience Academy programs at Dutchess BOCES.
  • Exercise sound judgment and appropriate discretion in the administration of professional duties.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of laws and regulations related to student discipline.
  • Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
  • Facilitate communication between personnel, students and / or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and / or resolving conflicts.
  • Implement policies, procedures and / or processes for the purpose of providing direction and / or complying with mandated requirements.
  • Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
  • Manage a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, arrivals / departures etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
  • Oversee the training and implementation of Crisis Intervention Protocols.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Work with other administrators and participate in the recruitment, orientation and induction, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and support staff assigned to Salt Point Center.
  • May serve as the Summer Program School Principal
  • Perform other administrative and / or supervisory duties as assigned.
  • EVALUATION : The Assistant Principal's performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal.
