What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist position at Dutile Elementary School?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
The occupational therapist is a member of the special education team, supports the education of students with a disability in the least restrictive environment and provides educationally and participation based services to students with disabilities who would not otherwise be able to access the educational environment of the school.
JOB DUTIES:
•Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
•Evaluate students using appropriate tests, skilled professional observation and supplementary information from student records.
•Interpret assessment findings and appropriately convey information to parents and school teams.
•Write evaluation reports that adhere to Federal and state requirements.
•Participate with the school team to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
•Coordinates occupational therapy services with student services provided by other school personnel.
•Develop and implement intervention strategies.
•Collection and documentation of student progress through progress monitoring and observation data.
•Adjusts intervention strategies based on student performance.
•Develop physical management plan for daily classroom routines and train staff in safe implementation as needed.
•Report on student achievement, write progress reports.
•Participate on an as needed basis on the school RtI team.
•Communicate and consult with school staff, parents, administration, and physicians.
•Serve as a resource to parents, school team, staff and administration on conditions and their effects on education.
•Assess need and recommend assistive technology necessary for function at school.
•Procure, maintain and inventory equipment, materials and supplies.
•Adheres to all Federal, state and district regulations and procedures.
•Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
Candidates must hold the appropriate MA license.
