Job Summary
Provide technical assistance to Exceptional Education/Student Services personnel in implementing the comprehensive programs for Exceptional Education and Student Services.
Essential Functions
1. Supervises and trains assigned support staff (related services, private school, charter school, pre-kindergarten, and/or hospital homebound), conducts performance appraisals, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and coordinates work assignments.
2. Serves as designee for the Executive Director of EE/SS for purposes of admissions and placement of exceptional students.
3. Develops plan for providing technical assistance to principals to ensure their capability for program implementation and evaluation in cooperation with appropriate district staff.
4. Ensures that exceptional education students be afforded right of due process as specified by District Procedures. Provides structured case management to prevent/avert due process actions.
5. Develops and delivers a systematic in-service training program for support unit personnel.
6. Maintains statistical and demographic data on Exceptional Student Education programs.
7. Develops plan for comprehensive programming for exceptional students.
8. Assists school-based administrators in evaluating unit needs and support services to provide EE/SS services.
9. Supervises testing, processing and delivery of psychological, social, and intervention services (behavior management/effective behavior strategies and assistance), reports, and histories.
10. Supervises Instructional Program Support technical assistance to teachers, parents, students, district staff, and school-based administrators.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience.
Certifications & Licenses: One or more areas of Exceptional Education or certification in school social work or certification in school psychology. Educational Leadership preferred.
