Job Summary
Conducts internal investigations into allegations of professional misconduct and criminal activity of School District employees. Makes recommendations for final disposition, including suspension, termination, and/or criminal prosecution.
Essential Functions
- Conducts investigations into incident reports and complaints regarding the district’s non-discrimination policy, Title IX, internal complaints, and the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida.
- Interviews employees, students, teachers, administrators, and other individuals regarding details of allegations. Makes recommendations to either clear employees of allegations or apply appropriate disciplinary actions, including termination and/or criminal prosecution.
- Prepares correspondence, reports on investigation results, charging letters and disciplinary packages to supervisory staff, School Board, General Counsel’s Office, Department of Education, and/or other appropriate management.
- Participates in employee disciplinary meetings as a witness, counseling referral, and/or provider of facts and testimony. Counsels employees on appropriate behavioral changes to encourage return to professional behavioral standards.
- Serves as liaison with the Department of Children and Families regarding incidents involving family or child violence.
- Tracks all staff arrests from fingerprint hit notifications. Investigates disposition of incidents and determines need for staff removal from current position, discipline, and/or referral to Employee Assistance Program.
- Testifies in court hearings and provides depositions regarding incidents escalated into criminal or other legal action.
- Develops and delivers training on Board Policy, Ethics, and Professional Practices for new employees and in-service training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of Federal Child Protection Act
- Knowledge of Florida Ethics and Education Law
- Knowledge of Florida Statutes related to investigation of complaints against school district employees
- Knowledge of District disciplinary policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions relative to discipline and termination
- Knowledge of performance evaluation components and process
- Strong research and investigation skills
- Strong investigative report writing skills
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong presentation development and delivery skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills
- Ability to objectively gather and evaluate facts and information of a sensitive nature
- Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful and/or highly emotional meetings with law enforcement, students, employees, teachers, and other District staff
