What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Manager position at Duxbury Bay Maritime School Inc?
Event Managers, reporting to the Director of Weddings and Events at DBMS, are part-time seasonal employees who assist our event vendors to ensure event success that meets customer and DBMS levels of excellence. Events run primarily from April through October and may include weddings, celebrations, DBMS fundraisers and community engagements. There are minimal off-season opportunities. Bartending/service and/or Day of Coordinator training opportunities may be available if interested.
Responsibilities
General duties of the Event Manager include but are not limited to the following:
- Answering questions for caterers and vendors
- Distributing and inventorying alcohol for bartenders
- Assist with set-up including tables, chairs, and decor items
- Execution and completion of a step-by-step event checklist to ensure caterers and other vendors are adhering to venue and bar rules and regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Event Managers will be required to work a minimum number of dates during the summer season including 2-3 weekend evenings per month.
- Candidates must be age 20 or over and will be required to complete First Aid, CPR, AED, and eTIPS certifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly for event setup and breakdown
- Must have a sense of urgency, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations
- Must be able to handle unruly guests and difficult situations
