Job Summary:

Taking direction from Managers and Team Leads the Production Technician will be expected to read and understand electrical schematics, assemble control panels and equipment of varying size and scope to meet client and product specifications, and conduct pre-testing quality control as well as testing of completed systems. The Technician will also assist with routine shop and equipment maintenance. A background in electrical/ control systems and PLC experience are a plus. This position may require infrequent travel for installation/service deployment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

· Pre-Test/QC and Test completed systems.

· Assemble control panels and equipment to meet client and product specifications.

· Use hand and power tools as required.

· Read and understand electrical schematics.

· Assist with routine shop and equipment maintenance.

General Expectations of the position:

· Take direction from Managers and Team leads.

· Follow training instructions from level Three Technician

· Maintain a clean and safe work area.

· Wear proper work attire and PPE.

· Maintain a positive work attitude.

· Accept constructive criticism.

· Be on time at the start of the day and on time returning from breaks and work until the end of the day.

· Give adequate notice for personal time off (PTO)

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent OR relevant experience

· Minimum of 2 years in mechanical assembly/mechanical repair or associated field.

· Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).

· Valid driver’s license

· Preferred certifications (OSHA10, CPR)

Physical Requirements:

1. Safety glasses and equipment for daily use. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn, and this can be obtained from the DVM Fastenal cabinet.

2. Hand protection, either cut resistant gloves or Leather work gloves as appropriate.

3. Hearing protection when required. Earmuffs assigned by safety office for fabrication area.

4. Steel or Composite toe boots or shoes for daily use will be purchased by the Technician. Reimbursement may be requested for one pair once a year.

5. Physical exertion may vary depending on position type. May be required to regularly stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, frequently stand or walk around the work area, and lift or move objects up to 50 lbs.

6. Assembling may involve manipulating small parts and using hand tools. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are essential for this job. Comfortable with occasional repetitive motions.

7. Must be able to follow instructions and stay alert to potential hazards on the shop floor.

8. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.

9. Manufacturing facilities can be loud and have bright lights. Subjective to seasonal weather conditions (hot in summer and cold in winter months).

10. Availability to travel, as needed, between DVM manufacturing facilities (Stone Mountain, North Wales & West Chester) and/or client sites. Some travel will require overnight stays.

Expectations for Proficiency:

The Technician will be trained during the 90-day probation period by a Senior level 3 technician and demonstrate the ability to effectively use hand and small power tools as required in the execution of tasks and responsibilities. At the end of the 90-day probation period the Technician will demonstrate and be signed off no sooner than 60 days on the ability to:

1. Interpret electrical schematics.

2. Interpret mechanical drawings.

3. Demonstrate the proper use of a torque wrench.

4. Show the understanding of hardware selection for copper and structure assemble.

5. Demonstrate the proper use of hand tools i.e.

5a. Wire strippers, Ferrule and Ring Lug Crimpers.

5b. Drills and Impact Drivers

5c. Drill and Tap holes. i.e. 10-32, ¼-20

5d. Show the understanding of measurement with a tape measure, ruler, or yard stick.

Prerequisites for Advancement to Level 2 will require the following:

After completing the 90-day probation period and a minimum of 9 additional months OJT (on the job training), i.e. a total of 12 months (two consecutive evaluation periods) in the position, the Technician may petition for advancement to level 2 Tech.

The Technician must show consistent improvement of quality and knowledge of work and have received supervisor sign-off on all Level One skills and training. This will be at the discretion of the Managers and Team Leads.

Tool Use Guidelines:

The Level One Technician will obtain a DVM supplied tool cart, (on loan) that has the basic tools needed to accomplish level one electrical and mechanical tasks during the 90-day probationary period. If after the probationary period, the technician meets the skill level requirements, they will be assigned the tool cart in their name.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
