Job Summary:

The Purchasing Assistant will provide support to the Procurement group by ensuring proper documentation and electronic filing based on established standard operation procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, an eagerness to learn, a high-level of attention to detail, and efficient organizational skills to support successful Procurement operations.


Job Status (FLSA): Full-Time, Exempt

Location: North Wales, PA and others as assigned.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.


  • Ensuring accurate and up-to-date vendor and credit information within the ERP system.
  • Collecting certificates of insurance and following the necessary SOPs for proper documentation.
  • Assist in the sourcing and negotiation of supplies based on price, availability, necessity, quality, and logistical expenses.
  • Managing orders, organizing electronic files, and following best practices established by the Procurement department.
  • Supporting the Purchasing Agents by maintaining the shared inbox, agenda, and scheduling meetings in Outlook.
  • Communicate and build professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback and insight on process improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.


Education and Experience:

  • Experience with procurement responsibilities in manufacturing or construction industry, strongly preferred.
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.


Physical Requirements:

  • The work environment is a typical office environment, with quiet to moderate noise level, and traditional lighting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer by completing repetitive motion, analyzing data and figures, and extensive reading.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
  • Must be able to type lift up to 15 pounds at times and operate office equipment.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
  • Must be able to travel between DVM locations as needed.

Salary : $52,000 - $65,000
