Job Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the Field Service Representative, the Production/Installation Technician II is responsible for aiding and assisting in the designing, fabricating, installing and repairing of electrical equipment, primarily switchgear bus, sheet metal, and mechanical and electrical systems related to switchgear and breakers. The position operates independently and coordinates with work groups in efforts in the shop and in the field. The Production/Installation Technician II is required to have mechanical knowledge of electrical systems and fabrication skills and the ability to use a variety of fabrication equipment and tools. Must be able to understand, interpret, and be able to modify mechanical/electrical drawings, layouts, electrical schematics and other specifications to aid in design, fabrication and installations. Periodic travel is required, and the position requires overtime including overnight stays for periods of time depending on project needs.

Location: Based at the DVM Shop in Naugatuck, CT with periodic travel required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.
- Works independently, under direction of the Field Service Rep or in conjunction with a team to accomplish successful execution of a Shop and/or Field Project.
- Interprets designs and fabricates related parts from raw material, in particular switchgear copper bussing and associated metal enclosure work and sheet metal covers.
- Interprets electrical/mechanical drawings and modifies and documents implemented designs and changes to accomplish successful project execution and/or completion
- Using initiative, utilizes drawings, wiring diagrams, engineering personnel and other resources to troubleshoot, solve equipment issues and implement solutions.
- Produces red-line updates to engineering drawings when modifications are required.
- Coordinates project and site activities with different client representatives and vendors to maintain an overall project schedule.
- Understands and follows all safety protocols to ensure a clean safety record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience of electrical/mechanical principles, procedures, materials, and safety standards working with electrical systems at varying voltage classes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, layouts, schematics, and other specifications to aid in recognizing, diagnosing, designing and implementing solutions to issues, particularly with 480V and medium voltage electrical switchgear.
- Ability to operate computer aided machines with support: plasma table, lathes, press brakes, mill, sanders, sand blasters and various other metal fabrication equipment
- Ability and knowledge to operate basic hand tools and power hand tools for metal work: reciprocating saws, circular saws, drills, punches, etc.
- Knowledge of 480V and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, PT's, CT’s, meters, etc.
- Knowledge with electrical test equipment (Voltmeter, Megger, Ammeter, Hi-Pot, etc.)
- Knowledge of control wiring installation, routing and terminating.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Ability and knowledge of basic CAD software (AutoCAD LT)
Education and Experience:
- High school/GED; Vo-Tech/Technical school diploma preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License
- 3 years of applicable industry experience.
- Basic understanding of the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background screening.
Physical Requirements:
- The work environment can vary with seasonal weather conditions (hot summers/cold winters).
- May be exposed to loud machinery or equipment and hazardous materials. Must wear PPE and follow safety requirements.
- Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
- Must be able to regularly stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, reach and lift at a minimum of 50lbs.
- Must be comfortable with navigating cramped or restricted areas. Position requires dexterity, ability to use hands skillfully.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
- Must be able to travel between DVM locations and site installations as needed.
