What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at DW Distribution?
D.W. Distribution, an S.B.P. brand is currently looking to hire a Dispatcher to serve as a department coordinator, responsible for the administrative tasks associated with checking in drivers and company trucks as they return to the Midlothian & Oklahoma City D.W. branches following deliveries.
Essential Functions
Transportation Coordination
- Updates and files transportation/delivery related documentation, such as load recaps, daily recaps, telematics reports, DVIRs, and logs
- Serves as primary communication liaison with drivers and customer concerns
- Provides DVIR information to the maintenance department for trailer repairs
- Assists in will call pickups
- Checks all keys for the appropriate drivers and routes
- Answers receiving phone and opens the gate
- Provides solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems; resolve issues as needed.
- Takes all scheduling and driver complaints, report to Transportation Manager or resolve problems directly with the customer.
- Assists drivers with day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with operating contract, state and local ordinances, and company policies and procedures.
General and Administrative
- Supports the corporate vision, mission and values
- Communicates effectively with various management and operational departments, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that sales and customer objectives are met
- Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations
- Compiles and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follows systems and procedures outlined in company manuals
- Participates as a team player by supporting operations as needed
- Maintains departmental housekeeping standards
- All other duties as requested by management
Qualifications
Formal Education and Certification
- High school diploma required
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 2-5 years in an administrative role
- Experience utilizing material handling equipment, such as forklifts and Combi-lifts
- Strong computer skills and experience in utilizing warehouse management systems is required
- Experience in the transportation industry is highly preferable
- Knowledge of DOT commercial vehicle regulations is highly preferable
- Familiarity with Agility, Samsara, Appian, DRTrack software systems is desirable but not required.
