Summer Camp Division Leader
For over ten years, Dwight Summer Day Camp has been providing campers with an outstanding day camp experience. We have beautiful facilities, including a six-lane pool, visual and performing art studios, and more, but the most critical ingredient of our program is our exceptional staff. Your energy, enthusiasm, care, and dedication create an atmosphere where campers feel included, supported, and nurtured. Your contact with campers throughout their day, and all during their time at Camp, has the potential to impact their lives significantly. We strive to make each day count for every child and to be worthy role models. Under the leadership of the Summer Camp Leader, we expect all staff to encourage children to make good decisions, try new things, develop friendships, and to support each other in big and small ways. We expect all staff to recognize and applaud campers’ accomplishments whether it be a homerun in softball, a creative art project, or a demonstration of kindness they have shown to someone else.
The Camp Summer Leader oversees the program for campers ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old. Dwight Summer Day Camp runs for eight weeks, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm.
Title: Summer Camp Leader
Days: Monday through Friday, June 16 to August 8, 2025.
(We will be closed Thursday, June 19 in observance of Junteenth and Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day)
Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Compensation: Commensurate with experience, $18 - $28/hour

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and maintain safety for a maximum of 18 campers and counselors
- Consult weekly with the Division Leader and attend weekly camp roundtable
- Ensure group cohesiveness
- Communicate directly with the Camp Director, camp counselors and other camp staff immediately regarding critical matters
- Experience working with children from diverse background and ethnicities
- Maintain a sense of calm and perspective with physical and mental alertness during stressful times
- Take daily attendance
- Communicate directly with parents on urgent matters
- Maintain all medical information, roster, supplies for camp group
- Report and record medical needs/concerns as they arise to the Health Director
- Manage behavioral conflicts within the group
- Ensure that the camp group is on time and safe
- Monitor daily actions of campers (eating/drinking/participating in all activities)
- Manage all activities and situations on field trips
- Report daily issues to the Summer Camp Director
- Facilitate that campers swim daily
- Actively participate in all Camp Orientation and training sessions.
- Conduct yourself as a professional with values that are representative of Dwight Summer Day Camp
- First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Dynamic personality; able to relate to youth between the ages of 4 to 12 years old
- Good organizational and planning skills, high creativity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Experience working with children for a minimum of one year preferred
In-person
- Summer Camp Staff Training: Saturday, June 7, 8 am - 3:30 pm
- First Aid & CPR Training session: Tuesday, June 3, 5 - 8pm (Required only for non certified counselors)
